The Board of Management of St. Louis Infant School are delighted to announce that they have secured funding from the Department of Education and Skills to add a major extension to their school. The school's Board of Management are also making a significant contribution towards the cost of the building project. This new extension will include four new classrooms and associated facilities.
School Principal, Tina McTiernan expressed her delight that the town centre school has "finally got the green light to build this much needed extension". Chairperson of the Board of Management, Adrian Fitzgerald added that the "new extension can only enhance the excellent teaching and learning that already happens in St. Louis Infants School." These sentiments were echoed by Parents' Association members Patricia McElwaine and Mark McElwaine. The building works are due to start in mid-February and conclude in August.

Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools week was celebrated in the Infant School from 30th Jan-3rd Feb 2012. During the week we reflected on the theme of Christ's Living Body active in our School. The children drew pictures and wrote about things they could do to live like Jesus. The resulting art work was displayed in the Sacred Place located in the entrance hall of the school. Two Senior Infant classes gave a presentation about St. Brigid during an assembly which was held in the P.E hall on St. Brigid's Day. We also heard about the life of St.Louis. Throughout the week children came to pray at the sacred space.
December was a busy month for all in the Infant School starting off with our Advent Prayer Service. All classes performed Christmas plays with some classes performing the traditional fairy tales Goldilocks, Red Riding Hood and 3 Billy Goats Gruff. The Nativity Story was told in a variety of ways helping to show us the true meaning of Christmas. The children are also busy with Christmas art activities and singing Christmas carols. Our annual Christmas Prayer Service was held on21st December. At the end of the prayer service we presented the ISPCC with the proceeds of the Christmas Plays which came to €550. We ended our Christmas festivities on Thurs. 22nd December with a visit from Santa.
