Seachtain na Gaeilge 2011 Lá Glas

Seachtain na Gaeilge 5 - 17ú Márta 2011 was thoroughly enjoyed by all at Naíscoil San Lughaidh. The children took part in a variety of activities. Throughout the week the children made an extra special effort to speak as gaeilge, na múinteoirí played their part reading scéalta as gaeilge gach lá, amhráin and rannta echoed from all classrooms and fingers were busy on the feadóga stáin in Rang a hAon. Everyone looked forward with excitement to the highlight of the week - Lá Glas agus céilí sa halla ar an Aoine.

Lá Glas brightened the day for the Céili in the school hall with children and staff dressing up in eadaí agus hataí glas. There definitely were forty shades of green to be seen on the day.

Rang a hAon set the scene at the Céili with a poem - Naomh Pádraig and later got a chance to demonstrate their skills on the feadóga stáin. All the children then got the opportunity to watch, listen to and participate in dráma, rannta, scéal, amhráin, damhsa agus ceol.

Céilí sa halla

There is an ongoing emphasis in the school on the promotion of Gaeilge in everyday life. This is acknowledged every week in each class with the presentation of "Trófaí Gaeilge". At the Céili one child from each class will be presented with the Trófaí Gaeilge in recognition of their effort in Gaeilge during Seachtain na Gaeilge.

To round up Lá Glas and the Céili the children joined in some ceol agus craic with the music shakers they had individually made and decorated for the occasion. Míle buíochas to Mrs. Connolly for organising the activities during Seachtain na Gaeilge and especially for the very enjoyable céilí.

Thaitin an lá go mór le gach duine.
