About Us
Our school is called St. Louis Infant School and is situated in Monaghan. Monaghan is a town with a population of approx 7000 located in the north east of Ireland and on the border with Northern Ireland. As a Roman Catholic School under the patronage of the Bishop of Clogher, Bishop Liam Mc Daid, and established in conjunction with the Minister for Education, we aim to promote the full and harmonious development of all aspects of the child: intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual.
Our school is a co-educational school with 320 pupils. We cater for children in the 4-7 year age bracket in Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First class. We provide a wide and varied curriculum which is child centred and uses methodologies and approaches as outlined in The Primary School Curriculum. The curriculum consists of Gaeilge, English, Mathematics, Religion,Visual Arts, Music, Drama, History, Geography, Social Personal and Health Education, Social Environmental and Scientific Education and Physical Education.
As part of Physical Education children have swimming lessons in the local swimming pool, avail of dance lessons and are afforded an opportunity to partake in GAA skills training. Children also have Tin Whistle lessons as part of their Music. We value the place of technology in today's world and all mainstream classrooms have interactive whiteboards. There are 12 mainstream classes and 21 teachers. Support is offered by 8 of these teachers in the areas of Literacy, Mathematics, Special Needs and Language Support.
School starts at 9 a.m. and finishes at 1.40p.m.
