Eight children in First Class form the Cairdre Committee

Cairdre is the Irish word for friends. The Committee was established so the children have a ‘voice’ in our school, and their views are very important to us.

So far this year they have been very busy. They have been invited to participate in a research study undertaken by the Department of Children and facilitated by Stranmillis University in Belfast. Dr Glenda Walsh will visit the school on 20th March to get a child’s views on a few ‘ethical’ issues related to children’s rights.

They are also participating in organising the new play equipment and helping.

At Christmas they labelled the cribs in the corridors and they continuously tell us what it is like to but a pupil in our school.
